Abstract
The South China Sea is one of the strategic areas in Southeast Asia, which has international importance. China claims absolute ownership over a wide area of waters in this region and in this regard with other claimants such as; Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Taiwan are different. In the meantime, Beijing has created and militarized a chain of islands and claimed exclusive sovereignty over resources in the South China Sea, which, while threatening the coastal countries, has caused tensions and disputes in this region. In this way, the main question of the research is, what is America's intervention in the tensions and conflicts of the South China Sea? The hypothesis of the article is that China's claim of territorial ownership over islands and reefs in the South China Sea and the militarization of artificial islands is a strategic threat to coastal countries and the United States, which will increase the level of tensions and conflicts in the region. Although the United States does not claim territorial sovereignty in disputes and conflicts in the South China Sea; But under the pretext of supporting the freedom of navigation program, it has a large presence in the region, which, while creating an alliance and alliance between Washington and regional allies to narrow Beijing's encirclement in East Asia, increases the competition and conflict between the United States and China in the region. will be. Qualitative analysis method was used to analyze the research data.
