Abstract
Objective: In the multi domain environment of current wars, the war game is considered an effective tool for familiarizing the commanders with the operational environment and making optimal and innovative decisions. The purpose of this research is to identify and classify the effective factors in the design and implementation of the war game.
Method: The research method is exploratory factor analysis. The research is applied in terms of purpose, and in terms of mixed work method and descriptive-survey execution type. In order to collect the required information and data, documentary and library reviews related to valid domestic and foreign books have been used. Based on the study of sources, a researcher-made questionnaire tool was developed in order to collect information. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by the face/content method and reliabilities with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.82 and it was divided between the samples.
Findings: A number of 41 characteristics in the war game design and implementation field were analyzed using SPSS software and Bartlett's, KMO, and correlation matrix tests, and the results of data analysis were divided into 4 main components in the design dimension and 4 main components in the execution dimension.
Conclusion: the results of data analysis were divided into 4 main components (Actors, technology, rules of game, scenario) and 16 sub-indexes in the design dimension and 4 main components (actors, technology, physical environment, and scenario) and 19 sub-indexes were identified in the execution dimension of the war game.
